I did it. I finally let go of the hustle n grind and took myself to a Red Rocks show.
I drove out of my mountain lair and across the good state of Colorado to Denver to see Charley Crockett with opening acts Rattlesnake Milk and Chapparel.
This was more than just a concert. It felt like an initiation into the world of joy and natural expression again.
I had been grinding on building a creator business offer suite that I had thought was the solution to fulfillment.
Turns out I was wrong. Even if I built the offers out until they made me money, I still wouldn't have been expressing from my natural state.
I had worn a hat that didn't suit me to release all that content and build the mini-course, the coaching offer, etc.
I knew the content messaging was misaligned with my soul, but I released it all anyway. I had to be the living experiment. If anything to prove that the creator models & blueprints didn't work for everyone.
Though I feel the efforts wasted time, I still learned a lot. I got in the habit of creating: organizing information and publishing it out to the digital world.
The experience can still serve me in future endeavors.
For the time being though, I had to let loose and experience joy.
I went to this show after I finished publishing all the content of the misaligned business model. I vowed not to make video tips content again and only use video as a tool for sharing other projects.
The Omens at the Show
I entered Red Rocks at dusk.
For those that haven't been, Red Rocks is a 7 million year old stage. The amphitheater is situated between two large red rock formations and works as a natural container of sound. It is in open air, overlooking the area where the Rocky Mountain foothills meet the plains.
In the distance lightning struck. One of the opening bands had to take a break and wait for the lightning to pass. This represented sudden illumination of new knowledge. Later a rainbow came out, a sign of new beginnings, matching where I was in life.
The solstice had just marked the start of summer days before and I had completed the work of an era that no longer served me.
As I took a seat in general admission a man approached me and offered me a free VIP bracelet to watch the main act from center stage up close. I took it.
When Charley took the stage with his band, he had the walk of a human being who embodied his authentic nature, what I call our soul purpose.
If you don't know Charley Crockett, he is a country star with influences of blues and soul in his music. His pianist plays a trumpet. His lyrics are from real living, nothing that can be fabricated or contrived.
I wasn't originally a fan of country music but in more recent years, the authentic voices and simple and raw songwriting appealed to me. It is one of the many genres I appreciate in music now.
He played all the great hits and I was surprised how locked in his band was. There was no excessive light shows or video elements on stage, just a big lit up sign that said "Charley Crockett."
At one point he quoted a friend of his James Hand who said: "anybody can pray for rain. You best get busy diggin' a well son."
I like this quote because I think it is saying that anyone can hope for a better, happier life...but that hoping will be in vain if you don't do the work to make the most of those better times. It will take the work to be able to experience it.
Right after he said this, he played another song and it started raining. I could see the raindrops falling in the stagelights.
I think the lightning, the rainbow, the rain, and the VIP bracelet all were signs from the Universe, God, the cosmos, whatever you want to call it, telling me it's okay to express yourself naturally.
You don't have to wear a mask or assume a persona to get ahead. Rooting down into the core of who you are is the way to live a fulfilling, purpose-aligned life.
Here's a clip of Charley living his truth from my VIP section at the show:
Follow my instagram if you want to see what I'm up to. I'll be deep in the mountains a bunch this summer in places very few humans ever go.
After the show
After the show I listened to Charley on Joe Rogan's podcast. Charley mentioned how hip-hop artists and pop artists had come to him and asked him how he has such a loyal fanbase. Charley mentioned something about living true to himself and his experience. Joe and him said that is the true way to having supporters who care about what you create through and through.
Here is that episode if you want to give it a listen:
You can also find it anywhere you listen to podcasts.
In the days following I got back to shooting videos. I did shoot one one walking through my video coaching strategy call but it was a simple screen recording. It focused on clarity not the bells and whistles of fancy pop ups or sound effects.
I was going to run ads and see if I can get clients but I decided to hold off until September and lay the foundations of my other soul work.
I also shot two videos walking through my cosmic to-do list, a guided journal I made to help guide people onto the tasks and habits they need to work on to live a more purpose-aligned existence.
Those will be up on the product page soon.
I've also been mapping out the final touches my creator memoir needs to be publish-ready. I'll be making those changes over the next month and starting the book design after that.
If this wasn't enough, I also started working on some new song lyrics. Mayhaps one of these days I'll get to sharing some tunes with you too.
For now though, if you want to use my guided journal you can get the digital version free here:

If you already have it, I'd like to ask if you've filled out each life category? If not, I encourage you to do so. It will give you greater clarity on the tasks your soul is here to accomplish.
If you'd like to leave a testimonial about how it helped you, you can fill out this short form here:

What's coming next
Tomorrowish I will be releasing a YouTube video, but it is not of the misaligned video creator tutorials kind, but the more soul-aligned kind.
I think Charley's music and his show gave me permission to just create what feels natural.
This will be a direct-to-camera, single-take chat: Writing My Memoir Log #1, about the time AI accidentally woke the ghost of one of the most influential writers in my life, who recently passed away.
Look for that in your inbox tomorrow or Wednesday most likely.
I've also got some videos coming soon walking you through how to use the cosmic to-do list and apply it to your life. For now, the guided prompts on the journal will get you through it and give you greater clarity.
Until then keep creating, and don't be ashamed to be your natural, most authentic self. Your voice is your greatest asset.
